We believe that in today's competitive, fast-moving business world, mobile fleets desperately need automated tools that are not only powerful, but are also easy-to-use and seamlessly integrate throughout your day-to-day operations. We built Rastrac from the very beginning to be both powerful and pure in design to meet those needs - and we still live by that same philosophy.
Today, our Rastrac Automatic Location software has thousands of users worldwide and can help fleets in nearly any industry develop a competitive advantage. Then, we'll help with implementation, teach you how to get the most out of your fleet tracking tools throughout the day-to-day, and always be around to troubleshoot or help you solve a problem.
Jeff Manning founded Manning NavComp, Inc. in 1993. He had a vision to apply an elegant software layer over traditional GPS technologies and wireless data networks, allowing people to remotely monitor their high-value assets no matter their environment. Early years as a senior engineer with Raytheon E-Systems prepared him for the technological task, which has evolved over the last thirty years. Manning received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas in 1987, and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1990. Mr. Manning has instilled his core value of hard work, integrity, educations, and humility into the Rastrac Philosophy.
Larry Durbin was Manning NavComp’s first full-time Sales Director, and has grown and developed the same sales channels that Rastrac uses to this day. Mr. Durbin has a college background in electrical engineering and over 40 years of experience in management and customer service, and managed a customer service and technical support team for Power Computing, Inc. prior to his term at Manning NavComp. Mr. Durbin has been instrumental in the success of the company since joining the team in 1998, consistently increasing sales while simultaneously controlling costs. He designed and implemented the proprietary Manning NavComp company-wide database system for tracking customer service, technical support, and sales activity, and has developed many of the procedures used by company personnel today.
Lee Simmonds joined Manning NavComp in 1996 as lead developer, where he drove the development of the first truly major upgrade of the Rastrac software and has continued to outdo himself in the years since. Mr. Simmonds’ unique experience in real-time control of signal processing and analysis systems at Raytheon E-Systems gives him QRC development expertise shared by few engineers in this country. He has applied those skills to almost every product in the Rastrac suite, and his efforts have positioned the company as one that delivers software that works and keeps working—a unique feat in the AVL middleware server industry. Mr. Simmonds earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science in 1987 from the University of Minnesota.
Michael Wells holds an Associate's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and has a wealth of experience managing two-way and microwave radio companies. He first encountered Rastrac as a customer in the early 2000s and quickly became a key contributor to the design of its user interface upon his joining Rastrac in 2009. Over the years, Michael has played a vital role in vetting and overseeing the implementation of new devices and adding features to the software, driving its innovation. He has also been responsible for expanding Rastrac into new verticals, particularly in temperature monitoring and marina spaces. In July 2023, Michael was promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager, and in September 2024, he was further elevated to the position of Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, reflecting his ongoing leadership and vision for the company's growth.
